• Kid’s Summer Reading Program

    Readers of all ages will explore all things musical this summer as Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library presents “Libraries Rock” during their Summer Reading Program. Activities include rock art, group games, music, crafts, science experiments, and more!

    The 2018 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prizes, story times, free lunch, and more. Families are invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program every Thursday in June from 11:00 – 1:00. Registration for “Libraries Rock” begins in May.     Children can also sign up for reading challenges between June 1st-July 27th; those who succeed will receive a reading award and those participating will earn one FREE admission to Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for children up to age 18. The Summer Reading events are free and open to all children, plus, all persons ages 18 and under are invited to free lunch at the library at noon every Thursday and Friday in June and July!

  • Libraries Rock for Teens!

    Area teens are encouraged to participate in Libraries Rock too! The Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library’s teen summer program is on June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th. Teens are invited to come to the library and read for prizes, as well as to take part in special events offered throughout the summer. Special events this summer will include watercolor tutorials, clay sculpting, rock painting, karaoke, Wii gaming, and a science show. Beginning in May, teens in junior high and high school can register to attend these free events at the front desk of the Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library. Teens can also sign up to read 10 books from June 1st-July 27th; those who succeed will receive a reading award and those participating will earn one FREE admission to Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for children up to age 18.     As part of the Summer Reading events, all children ages 18 and under are invited to free lunch at the library at noon every Thursday and Friday in June and July!

    Library Director, Kate Chalman, has partnered with the East Tennessee Human Resource Agency( ETHRA) Summer Food Program to provide free lunches for all program attendees ages 18 and under throughout the duration of the Summer Reading Program and continuing every Thursday throughout June & July. Each meal is nutritionally balanced and provides each child with fruits, proteins, dairy, and carbohydrates. Many organizations and companies are scheduled to speak and make presentations on how Libraries Rock individually and working together.
