Library Card Policies and Procedures

A library card is required to borrow any and all materials. Free cards are issued to Jackson County residents as well as non-residents who are:

  • Property Owners
  • Students of county school system
  • Persons employed by the county
  • Teachers in the county school system

For those who do not qualify for a free card, an out-of-county card can be issued for a one-time fee of $5.00.

To obtain a card, an applicant must show:

  • Driver’s license preferred
  • Photo ID
  • Proof of residency with name and address (check, utility bill, voter registration, etc.)

The cardholder applicant must signs an agreement of responsibility for overdue fees and replacement cost of lost or damaged materials. Parents or legal guardians sign the agreement for persons under the age of 18 years of age. Parent must have a library card in their name before signing agreement for minors.

Lost cards are replaced for $2.00

Card is created and entered in Agent, but the person must leave the card here until they receive an address verification letter to show the library that their mailing address is valid.

Patron must bring in the verification letter to take home their plastic library card.

They can use their pending card everyday if they like but the card must remain in house till the letter is presented. During this time only two items are allowed for check out at a time. Items must be returned and fines paid to receive card. New patrons are subject to five item limit for three months till good standing is established.
